You have just graduated and been lucky with finding a job, you’re faced with the dilemma of what to wear for the workplace. Here a style guide for men – you’re not a boy anymore! – to help you through the transition from the classroom to the office.

You finally made it: finished your studies and found a job. Well done. The next step now is to ‘update’ your wardrobe and start buying and wearing different clothes from the ones that you put on to go to lectures and seminars. Unless you work in a super friendly, relaxed workplace (Google, Facebook, etc..) you’ll be certainly, if not asked, expected to wear formal clothes of various degree – from a complete suit to just some smart casual clothes.

Here an easy style guide for (working) men. The following style tips and advice are only a starting point, as you should stay true to your personal style and taste even when following a dress code. The first change that will help you to get into a workplace clothing ‘mode’ is to invest into a few pair of trousers – not jeans, real trousers. They are as comfortable as your beloved denim and will instantly give you a ‘grown up’ look. A blazer and a smart coat  are essential too.Choose them in dark and neutral colours so that they work as a base for your everyday outfits.

Once your done with the basics – trousers and blazer – , it’s time to personalise your look with a key piece: the shirt. You can play with colours and patterns depending on your taste and the degree of formality required at work. From monochrome shirts to check and dots, anything goes as long as you look smart and not a student anymore.

I seguenti consigli di stile e suggerimenti sono solo un punto di partenza, in quanto devi sempre rimanere fedele al tuo stile e gusto personale, anche quando siete costretti a seguire un codice di abbigliamento. Il primo cambiamento che ti aiuterà a entrare in ‘modalità’ lavoro è quello di investire in un paio di pantaloni classici – non jeans, pantaloni reali. Sono tanto comodi quanto i tuoi amati denim e ti daranno subito un’aria da uomo maturo. Un blazer e un cappotto elegante sono anch’essi essenziali Scegli colori scuri e neutri in modo che funzionino come base per il tuo abbigliamento di tutti i giorni.

Una volta fatto con le basi – pantaloni e giacca -, è il momento di personalizzare il tuo look con un pezzo chiave: la camicia. Si può giocare con colori e modelli a seconda del tuo gusto e il grado di formalità richiesto per il lavoro. Dalle camicie monocromatiche ai quadri, va bene tutto purché ti faccia apparire elegante e maturo e non più studente.
